My idea for a sculpture I got after seeing some typography sculptures...Looking straight on the word is clear but from other angles it could be anything..This is just a small one i made out of cardboard that is stuck to my studio wall...I'm going to make a bigger one but I'm experimenting with different materials at the moment first. I think maybe it would be more interesting if it was suspended with wire or maybe held up by sticks or something so you could actually walk around it..I think it would create more movement and interaction with the piece..

Rizzle Kicks- This video is very cool..composed of loads and loads of pictures with the LED light painting put into a stop motion..
TYPETYPETYPE
I don't know why but I seem to have developed a mad interest in type for some reason. I got two books out from the Library in college: Playful Type and Type in Motion and they're class. Playful type is especially good I found loads and loads of very cool typography pieces.
Love this Red Hot Chilli Pepper piece by Oliver Hydes. It looks like it's hand drawn in the book but i haven't got a clue how it was done.
Sarah King.I think this is one of the most interesting pieces in the whole book playful type!..never seen anything like it before..kinda looks like the letters were almost tattooed onto the fruit! maybe an idea or a possibility for me to go into 3d...
Speaking about 3D i came across a few artists that experimented with three dimensional type faces which was right down my street.I'm dying to just start doing some 3D stuff i really need it to so i think im guna start doing some stuff like this but keeping the meanings of my chosen words in mind

In college? when we're off?? MADNESS
These electives have me completely confused. I came in here with the notion that I wanted Graphics and Graphics alone but now I'm gearing towards Fine Art completly. The print and paintings talks the other week had me sold.I rarely ever paint but when i do i enjoy it,im not very good at it..but i do enjoy it..ahh dont know what to do..anyway i'm off just thought I'd have a quick ramble while i was on..
MULTIPLY again
Decided i'd go back to multiply and start doing more of that sorta stuff. I cut the letters out of cardboard and dipped them in paint and literally just printed all over brown paper.I actually really like these and i liked doing them even more..a good messy process!
Finally some 3d..sorta..a little
3D...wooo...I went ahead and made myself a zoetrope or a pheankistascope or a zopraxiscope..ah I dont know some sort of scope anwyay I'll put up the photos and ye'll see for yourselves..I went back to the human figure again using the photos of Lisa walking in college. I didnt make the lines strong enough so i'm guna have to go back and rework the lines in marker or something but it shouldnt be too much hassle i hope, besides that it seems to work fairly decent..and heres the photooooossss..
As the photos were loading up i went to mess around with it..ya it's not the sturdiest of things might need to try and fix that..I'm going to make some typography 3d stuff at the weekend I have a few cool ideas in mind i just need to try and think of which material would be best! Googling 'How to make a zoescope' and 'for kids' being suggested after did not make me feel like much of an artist whatsoever..

This the little video piece i've made from the hand motion alphabet i've already done..i think the music is fairly decent..god knows what the tutors are going to make of it though
Painting?..hmmm
I found this artist-Amy Shackleton who paints using just the gravity basically. She moves the canvas and drips the paints to create lines and forms...This her here working on one of those pieces http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yVhTyPaaLQ
I thought they were absolutly fanstastic but fairly irrelevant as far as my project went but I had wanted to experiment with paint for a while. So I decided i would try and recreate the lines I had made with the LED lights earlier in the year. I dripped the paint on 2 bits of wood and basically painting the lines by moving the canvas. I was lookin at the LED photos while doing it but it's safe to say it didnt even replicate it in the slighest...Amy shackleton makes the whole process look alot easier than it actually is...but I suppose i did end up making a few interesting marks while trying it. I think i'll keep going with anyway. I have a few done on card/paper but I havent got any photos of the yet i'll throw them up during the week

MULTIPLY MULTIPLY MULTIPLY
MULTIPLY!!!!...I was working on a few different words asscoitaed with movment..multiply,divide, curl, fragmented..etc...but I've gotten fairly carried away with the word multiply. I've just basically worked with the word over and over (multiplying!!) and i think I've created a few nice images..The work I was doing today won't be on this post beacuse I haven't had the chance to photograph it and the typography with the other words and on multiply are mostly in my sketchbook..which i left at home..not smart, but I will get them up at some stage.I have some ideas for typographical sculptures associated with movment after doing some contextual research and I really need to get going on it beacuse I have no 3d whatsoever..
I just painted the letters on first with red paint using a bit of cardboard..and then took a permanent marker to them and just wrote multiply until I couldnt feel my arm.....art
These were just done with cut out paper..

Big Fish Little Fish Cardboard Box
Just looking at my last post..if I scoll down the page really fast the photos actually animate well enough..Success!Anyway...I was messing around with long exposure times again and I realised my camera can actually (fairly) succesfully capture the movments of my arm if i move it repeatedly in the same way.At the time i was lookin at typographists in my contextual notebook and I went to Mary Nagle's typography lecture so I had gotten fairly interseted in this form of art because I never did much of it before. Anyway i decided to try and combine the two..Human movment + Typography and in my opinion it worked out fairly well! All the letters are pretty much visible bar a few..After the gruelling process of putting black bags all over my room and dressing up like a dodgy ninja ( you can only see the hand motions when the background the dark) I started taking the photos..I just did an alphabet to get started but hopefully I'll do some more over Christmas.
I've also made a video of this but again not sure how to upload..hopefully later on during the week.
